61degrees_in_miami.jpgWhile warm and snug in our abode at The Venetia, it’s getting chilly outside. According to my Vista Gadget, it’s currently 61 degrees out at 7:30PM. According to the Weather Channel, we have a 20% chance of rain, some clouds.

Low 46F. Winds NW at 10 to 20 mph. 46 degrees is a bit nippy, so make sure to be ready with warm gear in the morning.

2008 Election Results

Venetia Condo Association Board of DirectorsThe Annual Meeting and Election was held tonight at the 2nd floor meeting room at the Venetia at 7PM. There was a great turnout and it was great to see so many people there.

The meeting began by the selection of individuals to count the results of the amendments and election voting in teams of two. After selection, the Board had an open forum to discuss anything on people’s minds.

The topic of the studio and it’s allocation of maintenance and assessments was raised. Discussion ensued regarding how it was calculated in the docs, how the amendment would be next to impossible to modify and the will of the people were displayed. Many agreed it is morally wrong, but as previously pointed out by a Venetia Attorney at a recent Town Hall meeting, our docs were developed the year prior to modification in the Florida Statutes which make the allocation of assessments, as done in our building, illegal after the passing of the law. Any prior organizational docs were excluded from the legislation. Read more…

Water Water Everywhere!

richaa0028r_uc.jpgFernando just told me that water is now in between the two roofs. When there is a crack where you walk on the roof, water spurts up. The roof could collapse if it gets too heavy and, at best, water will find its way down to leak on the 35th floor and down. I am sure Fernando can explain this much better than I, but we have to make the roof a priority.

Election Message from Stacey Stokes

Stacey StokesThe election is drawing near. This is the first time that you actually have a choice among residential directors to make. I’m not going to recount all the progress that’s been made, you’ve heard plenty in the past few weeks. I’m simply going to ask you to make a choice to keep to the plan and keep the current board on-board.

While each of us believes that one issue or another is of paramount importance, the truth is that there are dozens and dozens of urgent and emergency issues arising every day that the board must prioritize and deal with. Sharon, Jay and I together have been able to tackle an amazing number of them because we each have complimentary strengths and we each try to keep an eye on the big picture, the long-term good of Venetia. I do not believe it is wise to lose that momentum right now and hope that you will vote for both Sharon and I in the election for residential directors next Tuesday.

There will be extra ballots at the meeting Tuesday night at 7:00 if you haven’t voted yet.
