Introducing Dexter

Beautiful Dog – Rescued  (1 year old) Meet Dex!

We found him dying –-curled up in a dirty puddle between the Marriottt and the Venetia Plaza. He could barely stand, was spaced out and about as close to death as any animal can be. We took him to the vet who put him on an I.V. drip to re-hydrate.

He is amazingly, now a week later, doing very well — tail wagging, energy coming back full force. He’s young and trainable.   He could weigh about 45 pounds when fully recovered from starvation.

He needs: A LOVING HOME – he is extremely friendly and affectionate despite the terrible neglect.

This is a lucky dog! – And he will bring you love and luck as well!

Check out the new walls in Elevator 4

The Venetia is proud to show off the new mica walls in our freight elevator. Here’s some great pics taken by our building management team. As many are aware, the walls were laden with graffiti and were not attractive. This is a great upgrade for the Venetia!

2008 Venetia Census

As you may know, Management sent out last week a “Census Form” to each of the residents at Venetia. It is imperative that you fill out the census form and return it promptly to the management office. There are several reasons why this census is requested:

1. Access keys and cards will be changed out floor by floor soon. You will not be able to obtain new access cards until we have your information on file. Having your information now, in advance, will mean you “do not wait” for the new cards when the time to receive your new one comes.

2. Unauthorized residents are living in the building, and even unknown illegal “squatters”, at least one of whom turned out be conducting criminal activity from the unit he occupied. Read more…

Wall Mural Contract was Dependent on “Winning the Lottery” and on a Unit Owner Vote to Allow a Material Alteration

In late Feb. of 2008, Sharon Dodge, President of the Board of Directors of the Venetia Condominium Association, was able to get into the head office of one of the NYC media companies then hotly competing in Miami for wall mural ad space on our city’s downtown building walls.

Dodge went there in the hope of realizing a potential $200,000 to $500,000 per year income for the Venetia Condo Association, from the “blank rear west wall” of our building, the wall that faces Biscayne Blvd. and the church.

Discussions ensued quickly once interest was raised by her presentation,”which was a well-researched, photographed, professionally prepared ‘ad pitch’, since a proposed Miami lottery was imminently pending for the few desired allowed locations, or ’spots’ “. Read more…

NPR Correction to “All Things Considered”

Billboard (Vertical)
It took almost three months, but on July 29, 2008 NPR finally corrected a statement made by Mr. Greg Allen at the end of the All Things Considered” broadcast many of us tuned into on May 6, 2008. Sharon and Stacey were featured on the program which concluded with a statement by Mr. Allen that

the owners of these luxury downtown condos [Venetia] are doing something that just a few years ago, they wouldn’t have considered. They’ve signed a deal to rent out one side of their building as space for a billboard.

You may recall that Sharon announced at a town meeting in February 2008 that we the owners had an opportunity to “adopt” a “million-dollar baby,” i.e., rent out one or more of our walls for a billboard. Read more…
