Venetia’s Town Hall meeting for February 12, 2008 was held in the second floor meeting room at the Venetia. There were between ten and fifteen people in attendance and the meeting was led by Board President Sharon Dodge. The primary topic of the meeting had been ‘Next Steps,’ and there were signs teasing the meeting about the building (and here on VenetiaOnline.com) and a ‘Million Dollar Baby.’

Sharon was pleased to announce that after discussions with a media company, the Venetia could stand to make several hundred thousand dollars a year by leasing the west wall of our building like many other buildings are doing in the downtown Miami area. While a fixed monthly fee would not be received for the space, the Venetia would receive 50% of the revenue generated from the space. Sharon, who has been in the ad industry for some time, found this to be a fair deal and had negotiated up from 40% (and tried her best for 60%). Reassurances have been provided by our counsel regarding the legality of utilizing this ‘common area’ for such a purpose.
